At Woodland School, we believe that winter doesn't have to be long or isolating. It can be a season of celebration. That's why we are proud to introduce Winterfest. Winterfest is a Family Council event we hold every year for our students, staff, and families.
Join us for a school-wide celebration of all things winter! This can include sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating, ice bowling, outdoor nature crafts, a cardboard cruise sled race, and more. These activities are weather-dependent. We encourage everyone to dress warmly as many of the activities are held outside.
When you need to warm up, head inside! We will have warm chili and hot chocolate to share. You can also buy something from the bake sale, try a round at the cakewalk, or have your face painted. It's a good time inside and outside!
This event is not possible without parent volunteers. Keep reading to learn more about the event. If you would like to get involved, contact us today.
Each Village will request a donation of a specific chili ingredient. Then, Family Council will make a vegetarian chili and a meat chili for all to enjoy. Ingredients that are not used will be donated locally.
Each year, one Village handles the cakewalk. This activity is a favorite for many! Show off your baking skills or simply pick up a cake at the local grocery store. Parents are also needed to run the cakewalk.
Each year, one Village handles the bake sale. Please remember to bring your sweets individually wrapped and consider staffing the bake sale table for a 30-minute shift.
The cardboard cruise sled race is a big part of the Winterfest celebration. Be creative and start planning because this event is too fun to miss! The race will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Teams can have up to four pullers and one or more riders. You can make your sled with:
Awards will be given for the most creative, school spirit, and fastest team! Don't miss out this year!
